    Abstract
This article explores the significance and advantages of integrating chess as an extracurricular activity in higher education institutions. Chess, being an intellectual sport, not only enhances students’ logical and strategic thinking but also contributes to the development of analytical abilities, patience, decision-making skills, and emotional resilience. The research emphasizes the importance of organizing chess activities systematically within universities, supported by qualified instructors, adequate infrastructure, and regular competitive events. Furthermore, the study highlights global best practices and suggests methods to adapt them to the national context. The findings underline that structured chess programs in higher education promote intellectual growth, social engagement, and holistic personality development among students. The paper concludes with recommendations for institutional support, student motivation mechanisms, and the integration of chess into broader educational and developmental frameworks.
