    Abstract
The paper discusses the problem of salinity in low land soils. It sheds light and points out the main drivers of the problem including high ground water levels, irrigation practices and water quality flowing in the irrigation system in the studied areas. The paper presents the results of the field and laboratory studies as well as the physical and mechanical properties of saline, poorly cohesive soils studied during erosion. The specific characteristics of saline, poorly cohesive soils for erosion are outlined, and special attention is paid to the process of mechanical and salt suffusion of soils. The paper discusses the results of field studies and analytical studies carried out in the region. It also determines the main challenges and ways of solution of the problem of salinity in low land areas. The problem will be exacerbated in the era of Climate Change; therefore, the paper calls for immediate solution of the problem.
