dc.description | As a result of global climate change,
cotton
cultivation
is
facing
many
challenges, which negatively affect the
growth, development, and productivity
of plants [4, 5]. Among abiotic stresses,
drought causes significant damage to
cotton crops [3].
Intensive changes of environmental
conditions have a strong impact on the
growth and development of cotton plants
[6]. According to estimates, drought is
cause a 67% reduction in cotton yields | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | The article presents the economically valuable traits of a number of medium fiber
cotton breeding lines under conditions of optimal water supply and with water deficiency. In the
medium fiber cotton lines, under water deficiency, plant productivity decreased from 15.55 to
38.5% compared to the control (optimal water regime). Relatively high productivity and plant
resistance under these stress conditions were noted in the T-22, T-11, T-15, and T-7 lines. These
lines can be used as initial material for breeding medium fiber cotton for drought resistance. Line T
7 showed a low adaptation coefficient (Kada.=-35.2) due to very high productivity (101.1 g) under
optimal water supply, the plant yield was 65.5 g. The weight of boll and the yield of fiber decreased
to varying degrees with water deficiency in medium fiber cotton lines. At the same time, the yield of
fiber in the T-11, T-16, and T-3 lines was 37.1–38.2%. | en_US |
