dc.description.abstractAbstract. The article discusses basic information about the objects ofresearch in theform ofa briefmining and geological characteristics ofthe deposits, a classification ofdeposits is made taking into account the geological complexes ofrocks according to the condition ofstability, as well as a classification of rocks according to their strength in the sides of quarries. The increase in the depth and volume of open-pit mining, and the deterioration of geological and mining-technical conditions of deposit development determine a qualitatively new approach to ensuring the stability of quarry slopes. For calculations, available indicators of physical and mechanical properties were used. It should be recognized that reliable values ofthe calculated indicators ofthe physical and mechanical properties of Quaternary rocks could only be obtained by reverse calculations or field methods.en_US
