A scheme for calculating a jet in a plane formulation of the problem of fluid motion in a tapering channel is proposed. Analytical solutions to the problem in a channel taking into account vortex and cavitation zones are presented in the paper. The paper sheds lights in problem of cavitation in vane pumps as result of changing in the dynamics of fluid movements in inflow and outflow channels of a pumping station. In the part of the results and discussions of the paper, details of the method for studying the problem has been given using mathematical equations, field studies and laboratory modeling of the problem. The paper points out the main drivers that cause the problem including flow dynamics, permissible suction height for the vane pumps and pressure differences in the system of pipeline. In addition, influence of water quality, its physical and chemical composition and the shape and size of sediments are considered and studied in the paper.en_US
